  • B Collision, Crowder Band's newest Remix CD is amazing. B stands for Banjo if you ask me. They really featured it and proved how beautiful of an instrument it can be. As Stewie says when speaking of the banjo, "What are those dulcet tones? Why this is the music of the angels?"

    A BEAUTIFUL COLLISION
    by DAVID CROWER* BAND

    The breaking makes a sound
    I never knew could be
    So beautiful and loud
    Fury filled and we collide

    So courageous until now
    Fumbling and scared
So afraid You'll find me out,
    Alone here with my doubt

Here it comes, a beautiful collision
    Is happening now.
    There seems no end
    to where You begin
    and there I am now
    You and I collide

    Something circling inside,
    Spaciously you fly
    Infinite and wide,
    Like the moon and sky
    Collide

Here it comes, a beautiful collision
    Is happening now.
    There seems no end
    to where you begin
    and there I am now
    You and I, collide

    Yeah Yeah Yeah

    Here it comes...

  • Farewell Jones

Yesterday was my last day working for Jones. I had a special assignment, demo girl... umm, I mean demo guy at Sam's Club. I got to serve Jones' two knew products, "Sweet Honey Barque" and "Thin and Crispy" chips for 8 hrs. It was a fun, yet an exhausting day. Seriously you have to give it up to those little old lady's at Sam's. While I was there I made a friend, her name was Anita, Nita for short. She was one of Sam's Club demo girls. Have you ever met someone and they are just dying to let you into their live? This was Nita. She totally laid herself open for me to read; about her recent divorce due to her husband cheating, an affair that she was apart of in her early teens, her children, etc. She was a fairly positive person though, she was very excited for me and my wedding that is coming up. 4 weeks to be exact. It just goes to show how despite we want people to be apart of our lives, that someone else can experience your joys, pains, struggles, excitement even if it's only for a min. We need that connection. I hope that I get to see Nita soon and that G-d is at work in her life.

So I had a great experience working at Jones. I love my coworkers, a few of them are long time friends and other's new faces, but I enjoyed them all. As a funny side note, working at the Jones Factory made me feel like I was living in the Wonka factory. For example - I got to see man boxes leave the warehouse on rollers, just like the opening scene of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Even on the way home, John Simpson Middles School's Boiler chimney looks like the Wonka factory's chimney.

  • MOTHER
    TERESA
Watched the Mother Tereasa movie the other day and I must say I loved it.  I think it did her justice.  She was a remarkable woman, definitly a saint who understood the power and meaning of love.  I greatly respected her for her convictions and more importantly her actions.  She has taught me the difference between charity and self sacrificing love.
  • Smith Family Reunion

Last Sunday was our Smith Family Reunion.  It was a nice, I always loved the Smith side of my family.  We were always close because my great grandma Smith lived so long and made use come together forever holiday of the year.  When my Uncle Bill prayed he thanked our ancestors.  I truley resinated with this thought because it is why I get so excited about the OT and the early church.  Even the traditional, contemporary and seeker-sensitive church, they have all paved a way for new life to flurish in G-d's kingdom.  In the same way I thank my family for allowing me to flurish Sondra and I are so blessed to have such loving and humble parents, grandparent's, aunt's, and uncles.  In my prayer I will praise G-d for them.  Here are some picture of the Smith Reunion festivities.

  • One day your a healthy young man....

The next day your eating vegetables purred in a Magic Bullet that resembles baby food.  Well not yet, but I went back to the doctor to see my lab results and tests.  So are you ready... I have G.U.R.D. (a.k.a. chronic heartburn), Scoliosis (curvature of the spine), high cholesterol (cure - eat Cheerios) and also she was listening to my breathing and said, "you have bronchitis".  Awesome, this means anything that taste good is out.  Which sucks, even the typical healthy stuff, which I like, such as oranges, tomatos, pineapples are out because of my heart burn.  Oh well... I do need to take better care of myself and exersice more.  Until next time...

  • C R A Z Y !

I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that phase.
Even your emotions have an echo
    in so much space

    And when you're out there
    Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
    I just knew too much

    Does that make me crazy
    Does that make me crazy
    Does that make me crazy

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
    But think twice
    That's my only advice

Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control

    Well, I think you're crazy
    I think you're crazy
    I think you're crazy
    Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember Is thinking, I want to be like them

Ever since I was little, ever since I was little oh it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

    But maybe I'm crazy
    Maybe you're crazy
    Maybe we're crazy
    Probably

  • How do you say child labor in Greek?

I found myself at a small family owned Greek restaurant in downtown yesterday.  Sondra ate their before for as a part of a cultural study for one of her nursing class.  We walked in and sat down in the nonsmoking section.  A few mins later a little girl probably 7 years old came up to the table and professionally asked us "what would you like to drink?"  Sondra said, "Diet Coke" and I replied with "lemonade".  She was on the ball, she had are drinks back at our table in a few minutes.  After she brought us our drinks back she asked us "are you ready to order?" as any good waitress would.  At this point we started to order and asked her how to pronounce a dish and as she struggled to pronounce it her mother showed up and said how's my helper doing?  And we both said "Great!".  And I was so serious.  Talk about responsibility, and the said thing was that she was a better waitress then most.  A couple times during the meal I went to snap a picture of her to put on my blog, but Sondra gave me the evil eye, so I figured she's right.

  • Church Planting, Emergent, and Tim Keel.

A friend of mine approached me several months ago about partnering with him to plant a church.  Since then we have talked a lot of the heart beat, passion, mission, etc. of what a church in our city could be and more importantly what it should be.  As I looked for resources on church planting, they all seem to go against the vision and heartbeat of what we are discussing.  So I figured that I would try to get in contact with pastors and church planters that have similar thoughts to ours.  Most of these pastors are apart of the Emergent conversation or at least they are mission-ally focused.  One of the first people who came to mind was Tim Keel, the founding pastor of Jacob's Well in Kansas City, Missouri.  Yesterday we set up an iChat and talked for 45mins.  I greatly appreciated this time, his incite and wisdom.  We discussed leadership, community, and daily life, among other subjects.  I publicly wanted to thank Tim for taking time out to speak with me.  Pastor's lead busy lives and I'm glad he worked me in.
