MedicationWords and music by derek webb
Don't lie to meTell me something true'Cause I'm only freeWhen I look at you
And you look so good it hurtsAnd love, I come undone
CHORUSBut I don’t want medicationJust give me liberationEven if it cuts my legs right out from underneathDon’t give me medicationI want the real sensationEven when living feels just like death to me
Don't paint my faceI need to see the scarsSo I don't forgetthe back of my tutor's arm
'Cause I just can't keep it straightWhich kills and which one saves
CHORUS
BRIDGE‘Cause the truth is I need you just like the air I breatheJust like a freight train needs the tracks beneathSo I’d rather suffer my whole life and be this rich man’s wifeIf loving you means suffering
I often feel like people wish everyone was medicated, living happy care free lives. But I believe this is far from what we were meant for. I believe there is a liberation that can happen in our lives that doesn’t necessarily makes us happy, but makes us complete. Sometimes we must embrace the suffering to really experience love. To be set free from things that hinder us from a whole life. I pray that you (and I) find the tracks for your (our) life and may you embrace every breathe. I’ve known people who live this life and it “look so good it hurts. Love, I come undone”.
Keep inspiring, keep loving, keep hoping, keep living….
I like this. Funny how I've been having the same conversation with a couple of other people the last few days. Love you!
