I found myself at a small family owned Greek restaurant in downtown yesterday. Sondra ate their before for as a part of a cultural study for one of her nursing class. We walked in and sat down in the nonsmoking section. A few mins later a little girl probably 7 years old came up to the table and professionally asked us "what would you like to drink?" Sondra said, "Diet Coke" and I replied with "lemonade". She was on the ball, she had are drinks back at our table in a few minutes. After she brought us our drinks back she asked us "are you ready to order?" as any good waitress would. At this point we started to order and asked her how to pronounce a dish and as she struggled to pronounce it her mother showed up and said how's my helper doing? And we both said "Great!". And I was so serious. Talk about responsibility, and the said thing was that she was a better waitress then most. A couple times during the meal I went to snap a picture of her to put on my blog, but Sondra gave me the evil eye, so I figured she's right.

How do you say child labor in Greek?

Church Planting, Emergent, and Tim Keel.A friend of mine approached me several months ago about partnering with him to plant a church. Since then we have talked a lot of the heart beat, passion, mission, etc. of what a church in our city could be and more importantly what it should be. As I looked for resources on church planting, they all seem to go against the vision and heartbeat of what we are discussing. So I figured that I would try to get in contact with pastors and church planters that have similar thoughts to ours. Most of these pastors are apart of the Emergent conversation or at least they are mission-ally focused. One of the first people who came to mind was Tim Keel, the founding pastor of Jacob's Well in Kansas City, Missouri. Yesterday we set up an iChat and talked for 45mins. I greatly appreciated this time, his incite and wisdom. We discussed leadership, community, and daily life, among other subjects. I publicly wanted to thank Tim for taking time out to speak with me. Pastor's lead busy lives and I'm glad he worked me in.

Roxanne
by Sting & the Police
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night
Roxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight
Walk the streets for money
You don't care if it's wrong or if it's rightRoxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
Put on the red light, ohI loved you since I knew ya
I wouldn't talk down to ya
I have to tell you just how I feel
I won't share you with another boy
I know my mind is made up
So put away your make up
Told you once I won't tell you again it's a bad wayRoxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light
You don't have to put on the red light
Put on the red light, put on the red light
This song is Amazing! Crunch regga style guitar, creative/difficult percussion, extremely high harmonies, and sweet lyrics. It reminds me of redemption.

SUPERMAN: Returns, Carpet and Family
I know, I haven't been keeping up with my blog to well. It's due to my wedding which is 6 weeks and 1 day away! AWESOME! Also work is killing me. I've been putting 11hrs a day in at Jones, so I can pay for our honeymoon. Which I'm still working on. I am currently looking at going to Chicago. We like to check out cities and their culture. If you know of a nice (yet inexpensive) hotel or some kind of lodging in Chicago please tell me. Also if you can think of any cool spots that we "have to visit" why we are their would be greatly appreciated.
Now for an update. Andrea and Cody flew in on the 4th. Dad cooked and bought a bunch of firecrackers. During our time together we also celebrated my Grandpa's Bday and also sealed our wedding invitations using wax and a stamper.

On the 5th my whole family went carpet shopping with Sondra and I. I've never felt so reassured when shopping in my life. We had 12 ears and 6 mouths asking questions. The Lowes and Home Depot salesmen didn't have a chance. I came out feeling like a carpet expert. As you know if I don't have carpet in my bedroom, I'll have an upset bride and that is NO GOOD! Not to mention, I'm tired of sleeping in the living room.
Yesterday we went and saw Superman: Returns. My opinion, was, it's average. Nothing special, but you definitely could feel that they were paying ohmage to Christopher Reeves. Spiderman is still by far the best comic character putting out movies right now. I'm pumped to see 3 with Venom and Sandman. Also one of the moves that I got for $4 was Spiderman 2. So good!

Saved
I bought four movies today. All for less then 4 bucks a piece. Oh ya! Among those I bought saved because my good friend, who I won't name at this time, said he loved it because it does a good job of depicting the contradictions and quirks of modern/contemporary /evangelistic church or in this case school. As I watched it was quite accurate how messed up a lot of the churches theology (thoughts on G-d), orthodoxy (right teaching) and praxis (active practice/living of ones faith) is. But by the end of the movie it's a big dull thud. The only thing they drive home (or at least try to) is that we need each other and even when we disagree we should still befriend them. I also agree. But it just didn't do anything for me. I think I'm going to watch it with my friend. Talk about it and then give it to him. By the way, this friend is a devoted Christ Follower. I know some people thought this was an outsider making fun of the church and I just wanted to clear that up. -
OLD BUT NEW....
My father was hard at work again, making my old house look like new.* My master bedroom is nearly complete. Sondra picked out the color, red red wine.

Makes me want to sing.... "You make me feel so fine. Keep me rocking all of the time.
Ahhh.... darn you UB40! Well I'm off to price carpet.* my father reminds me of my Father YHWH in these subtle, yet profound ways.

Every Wednesday at Jones I spend moving shelving from one location to another. During this time I've been listening to the radio a lot. Mainly Y105, sad really, but it gets the best reception. Any how listening to it reminds me of how and what pop music really is. Pop music is music that you can't get out of your head even when you want to. Recently being bombarded with a stream of repetitions song plays I've become fond of Fall Out Boy, Staind (again), some of disturbing girly music and of course Madonna. This song gets a A++ for production tricks and hook-ablity. I sing it all the time and I find myself wanting to dance, which is scary!
MADONNA
Hung Up
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you
Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun
I'm caught up
I don't know what to do
Time goes by so slowly...
I don't know what to do
